If we push the logic of the metaphysics of agent/action, I believe we can find a set of metaphysical principles that provide for the uniqueness of all agents, including God, and that also justify a conceptual representation of at least one Agent as sufficiently different from other agents (without ceasing to be an agent) to be worthy of our worship, praise, and moral response. At the same time, this metaphysics of agent/action can coherently relate the principles of science and intraworldly representation to the principles of divine action without logical paradox or unintelligibility.

I want to restore that credibility by showing that agent language is not only compatible with scientific description of the causal patterns of nature, but is also transcendent and inclusive of it in the sense that it depicts beings whose reality (as agents) is greater than the reality found solely within a causal law description of the 'natural' world. In short, I intend to show that the language of God as an agent who acts in history is philosophically or rationally coherent and well grounded and that, by virtue of that fact, it provides a metaphysical ground for the Christian language of experiencing a togetherbound relationship with God including the language of its Scripture as the book of the acts of God.

For a full bibliography of sources on act(s) of God in the world, see the Appendix. 2 Alternative Views of God: Monism, Dualism, Pluralism While the agent-act metaphysics is, I believe, most truly representative of the Christian's experience of God and the world, there are two other alternative metaphysical views of God that have, historically, found important places in the Christian tradition. While they share with each other some important metaphysical assumptions, especially those that entail that God is beyond the reach of human reason, they are significantly different in enough respects that they should be treated separately before being compared to the third view of God as Agent.
