This quantity is a part of the sequence on "Chemical Thermodynamics", released less than the aegis of the OECD Nuclear power supplier. It includes a severe overview of the literature on thermodynamic information for compounds of complexes of oxalate, citrate, EDTA and iso-saccharinate with uranium, neptunium, plutonium, americium, technetium, selenium, nickel and zirconium. A evaluate crew, composed of 5 the world over famous specialists, has severely reviewed the entire medical literature containing chemical thermodynamic info for the above pointed out platforms. the result of this serious evaluation performed following the ideas of the OECD NEA Thermochemical Database undertaking were documented within the current quantity, which incorporates tables of chosen values for formation and response thermodynamical houses and an intensive bibliography. Contributed via: Wolfgang Hummel (Chairman), Paul Scherrer Institute, Switzerland, Giorgio Anderegg, Swiss Federal Institute of know-how (ETH), Switzerland, Linfeng Rao, Lawrence Berkeley nationwide Laboratory, united states of america, Ignasi Puigdom?nech, Swedish Nuclear gas and Waste administration Co. (SKB), Sweden, and Osamu Tochiyama, Tohoku collage, Japan. * severe evaluation of all literature on chemical thermodynamics for compounds and complexes of oxalate, citrate, EDTA and iso-saccharinate with U, Np, Pu, Am, Tc and Se, Ni and Zr.* Tables of suggested chosen Values for thermochemical homes* Documented evaluate method* Exhaustive bibliography* meant to satisfy requisites of radioactive waste administration neighborhood* worthwhile reference resource for the actual, analytical and environmental chemist.

As discussed in Chapters V, VI, VII and VIII the answer is different for different ligands. In the case of oxalate, Na and K interactions are treated solely as specific ion interactions. In the case of edta, Na and K complexation constants had to be included in the speciation models. Na and K interactions with citrate are in between these two extremes. In the course of the review process both variants have been evaluated and compared, and finally the review team decided to treat the effects of Na and K on citrate solely as rather strong specific ion interactions.

They have been updated and improved since 1987, and their most recent versions are available at the NEA [2000OST/WAN], [2000GRE/WAN], [2000WAN/OST], [99WAN], [99WAN/OST]. 8 / Introduction Some of these procedures are also outlined in this volume, cf. Chapter II, Appendix B and Appendix C. Particular problems encountered in this review on organic ligands are discussed in detail in Chapter V. Once the critical review process in the NEA TDB project is completed, the resulting manuscript is reviewed independently by qualified experts nominated by the NEA.
